Aleksandra Batura (b.1982 in Augustów) is a Warsaw based artist. She earned a Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. She studied at the Faculty of Painting in Gdansk and Cracow Academy of Fine Arts and at the Porto University.
In 2010 Aleksandra received a scholarship from the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She accomplished several artistic assignments at the Academy of Art in Macerata and at Centro Sociale eXSnia in Rome.
Aleksandra does easel painting. She has undertaken numerous video projects, experimented with painting and drawing techniques as well as designed and completed several mural paintings. Her work can be found in many national and international collections.
The images exist as a memory, remnants of a state between wakefulness and sleep. There are also the landscapes which are not material, but they merge fragments and places taken from memory and imagination. They refer to the space of the original identity. They relate to what is hidden, what’s underneath, what’s at the root.
